Kerfing: The reason behind it

Having a slot port with a kerfed flare in it allows you to have less port area per cubic foot of airspace, allowing you to net a smaller enclosure overall.  It does that by lowering the necessary port area to achieve the same tuning, allowing you to tune lower without eatiing up as much internal airspace.  Also, it adds a visually stunning appearance to your enclosure.

Double Baffle: Strength in Numbers

Sometimes a single baffle just isnt enough to withstand the potential flex from that beast 55 pound sub beating up your trunk.  Double it up, and that will act as the single best brace possible for your front baffle, Preventing it from flexing.
